On Thursday, work on tearing down a three-story, illegal, and run-down structure in Karachi’s Baldia Town neighborhood got underway.
The building had begun to tilt the day before, which caused worry and dread among the neighborhood.
Within twenty-four hours of the structure being precariously slanted, the demolition process began. Because there was a significant chance that the building would collapse, the nearby residents had left their houses.
These kinds of dangerous structures are widespread throughout Karachi.
These structures, which are over 150 years old and pose a threat to thousands of lives, are particularly prevalent in the old city region.
