Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed Friday, the director of Punjab’s Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI), made a responsible call to the media and ulema to engage the public in the effort to eradicate polio, noting that the current administration is actively putting its special emergency response plan into action to reach every child living in remote areas.
“All the provinces should pay special attention and ensure that every child is reached by the polio program,” he stated in an interview with PTV news channel.
“We will make sure that the focus on polio remains unwavering,” he continued. “The Ministry of Health was actively involved in the polio programs with the assistance of district administrations.”
Additionally, he asked the media to create a demand among local communities for other vaccinations, such as those against polio.
To combat the debilitating disease of polio, “all the stakeholders would have to come together and devise an effective strategy,” he continued.
