Family members of those kidnapped in Gaza founded the volunteer organization Hostages and Missing Families Forum. In commemoration of the Jewish holiday of Shavuot, which commemorates the moment when God delivered Moses the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai, the group has dedicated a cookbook that it developed called “Shavuot of Longing.”
This year, Shavuot begins on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, in the evening and continues until Thursday, June 13, 2024.
“Shavuot of Longing” opens with a description of the suffering families are going through on yet another holiday without their loved ones.
RABBI AND SPIRITUAL LEADER SAY THAT PASSOVER IS ESSENTIAL TO UNDERSTANDING TODAY’S “VICIOUS” ANTISEMITISM.
“Shavuot in Hebrew means ‘weeks,’ but we’ve been endlessly yearning for their return for many months now,” the group adds.
How we long for the time when we may use them to make the recipes from the book.”
According to the organization’s website, the Hostages and Missing Families Forum was established less than twenty-four hours following the Hamas terror strikes in southern Israel on October 7, 2023. Over 1,200 people were killed in the attacks by Hamas terrorists, and according to several sources, about 125 of the 252 Israelis and foreigners who were kidnapped are currently being held captive in Gaza.
