Maggie Mull, a comic book writer and TV writer, said her father passed away at home on Thursday after a “valiant fight against a long illness”.
The American actor, who rose to fame in the 1970s satirical soap operas Mary Hartman and its sequel Fernwood Tonight, was “never not funny,” according to Ms. Mull.
In addition to making Red Roof Inn ads, he was renowned for being exceptionally talented in every creative field imaginable,” Ms. Mull posted on Instagram.
That joke would have made him laugh. He was always witty.
My dad’s friends, coworkers, wife, and daughter will all sincerely miss him.
Mull, who was well-known for his well-groomed moustache and blonde hair, was born in Chicago, raised in Ohio and Connecticut, and studied art in Rhode Island and Rome.
He rose to fame in the 1990s as Leon Carp, the employer of the main character in multiple seasons of the hit comedy Roseanne.
