In the past week, a wave of attacks across the volatile North Kivu province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo has resulted in the deaths of at least 45 civilians.
Millions of people have been forced from their homes in the region due to decades of violence between armed factions for wealthy gold and mineral reserves.
Although the Congolese government has not acknowledged the perpetrator of this week’s killings, numerous local sources have implicated the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), which is affiliated with the Islamic State.
Many people have since evacuated the area around Beni, where the terrorists targeted multiple communities.
According to reports, Mamove was the most severely affected area, with several homes set on fire and motorcycles taken.
Numerous people were slain in a wave of attacks by alleged rebel forces from the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
