ISLAMABAD Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif promised on Thursday to take action to address Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari’s reservations on a number of issues, following political tensions among ruling coalition partners over the federal budget 2024–25. News reported citing sources.
Top PPP and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) officials convened a crucial meeting in the nation’s capital following the latter party’s token protest during last week’s National Assembly session, during which Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb unveiled the 2024–25 budget.
According to News, sources, Bilawal informed PM Shehbaz about “reservations” on behalf of his party, which is the main ally of the PML-N government that is now in power at the Center. Despite not joining the federal cabinet, the PPP helped the PML-N-led coalition form government following the elections on February 8.
The insiders claimed that during the discussion, Bilawal expressed his concerns about the federal government’s “non-seriousness” about various projects in Sindh, which is led by the PPP.
They said that the leader of the PPP lodged a grievance with the premier on the administration’s failure to include his party in decision-making processes related to the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) and budget proposals.
