The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set for its most significant expansion yet, with plans to introduce two new franchises after the 2025 season, increasing the number of participating teams from six to eight.
The development was confirmed by PSL Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer, who underscored the league’s vision for sustained growth while ensuring competitive balance.
“By the end of this year, we might get two more teams. There’s always something happening, which re-energizes the concept, the event, and the passion of the fans,” Naseer said.
The PSL, which was initially held in the UAE due to security concerns, has gradually transitioned into a fully home-based tournament, marking a significant milestone for Pakistan’s cricket landscape. “We started at a time when no cricket was happening in Pakistan. The challenge was to bring it back,” Naseer recalled.
