KARACHI: Several Karachi suburbs saw rains on Thursday along with gusty winds, as forecasted by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). This brought relief to those who were suffering from the intense heat.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said that the temperature in the city reached 40°C at around 2:00 PM, at which point the oppressively hot heat broke. The Met Office reports that the feels-like temperature was 53°C and the humidity was 47%.
The PMD had earlier predicted rain in the city beginning on Thursday, suggesting that rain may fall in the suburbs of the city as well as other locations in the afternoon or evening.
The areas of the metropolis hit by the downpour are Surjani Town, Malir, North Karachi, Water Pump, II Chundrigar Road, Garden, Gulshan e Maymar, and Malir.
Strong gusts, however, also blew across Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Gulistan-e-Johar.
