Following his heated confrontation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the Oval Office this week, US President Donald Trump has continued to surprise allies.
Zelensky halted military assistance and intelligence sharing to Ukraine during his seventh week in office, claiming he was “ready to work under President Trump’s strong leadership” in an effort to mend fences and maybe broker a peace agreement.
Trump raised tariffs on China, a major trading partner, and imposed new ones on close US allies Canada and Mexico at the beginning of the week. A later signing by the president exempted some Mexican and Canadian commodities from price increases.
The longest-ever presidential address to Congress was given by the US president at home.
