With a charming hint of affection on his face, Cillian Murphy accepted his Golden Globe Award.
The 47-year-old actor took up the Sunday award for best actor in a motion picture—drame for Oppenheimer.
Colman Domingo for Rustin, Barry Keoghan for Saltburn, Andrew Scott for All of Us Strangers, Leonardo DiCaprio for Killers of the Flower Moon, and Bradley Cooper for Maestro were among the other nominees for the category.
Before beginning his acceptance speech on stage, Cillian questioned the audience about if his wife Yvonne McGuinness had left a lipstick stain on his nose.
“To start with, is my nose completely covered in lipstick? He said, “I’m just going to leave it.”
The Irish actor then carried on praising Christopher Nolan, the director,
thanks to Robert Downey Jr., Emily Blunt, and Matt Damon for supporting him during Oppenheimer.
“I realized something was off the first time I walked on a Chris Nolan set. I was under the direction of a visionary director, a master, given the intensity of the dedication and the total absence of any sitting options for the actors, Cillian remarked.
“They were magical, and some of them—Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Gary Oldman, and Robert Downey Jr.—are still with us today. I’m grateful that you supported and held me during this film,” he said.
