Ukraine claims it destroyed Russian tank landing ship

If verified, Ukraine’s claims on Tuesday about having destroyed a Russian Navy tank landing ship during an attack in Crimea would be the third significant loss of Russian military hardware in less than a week. Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force Mykola Oleshchuk commended those responsible for “the destruction of the Novocherkassk large landing ship” in a post on Telegram while the ship was in the port of Feodosia in Crimea, the Ukrainian peninsula that Russia unlawfully invaded in 2014. The report cannot be independently verified by CNN, but footage shared on social media appears to show massive explosions in the Feodosia port. In a statement carried by the state-run TASS news agency, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed that the Novocherkassk had been “damaged” by an attack by the Ukrainians.
